W Harvey & Sons, based in Newlyn, Cornwall are established shellfish merchants with a long standing reputation. The have sourced, cooked and traditionally handpicked crabmeat and shellfish since 1955. They are a fourth generation family business and are dedicated to providing the very best of customer service and product to customer and clients locally and throughout the UK.
It has been vital for the directors to not only run and grow a successful business in Newlyn, but to be mindful about the impact they are having on the local environment and their carbon footprint. It has been an important step to begin to review their overall energy consumption, their impact of operations and value chain to firstly understand how to reduce emissions and reach Net Zero.
Working with the directors and senior team, we reviewed the organisations overall all energy consumption and provide options to procure 100% renewable electricity to initially mitigate emissions in scope 2. We were also able to support and assist in finding solutions to reduce and avoid energy use where possible and assist to find help and support with various funding opportunities. In addition to this, we were able to provide direct hands on support in measuring the organisations wider carbon footprint and start taking steps in reducing fuel consumption whilst avoiding and removing emissions within their supply chain.
