‍Carbon Accounting is the measurement, management and reporting of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in an organisation. We believe that ongoing carbon measurement and accounting, should be treated in the same way as Financial Accounting i.e.​

• The amount of GHG emissions in an organisation
• Their trend, overtime​
• The financial impact of GHG emissions on the business

If you’re required to comply with Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR), then you are legally required to report on your energy usage, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions and an intensity metric; disclosing the methodology used to calculate these and importantly, any energy efficiency measures taken during the financial year being reported.
