Carbon Accounting is the measurement, management and reporting of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions within an organisation or associated with a product. Ongoing carbon measurement and accounting, embedded in the same way as financial accounting provides a number of benefits.
If you’re required to comply with with a particular ESG framework and/or Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR), then you are required to report on your energy usage, GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions and an intensity metric; disclosing the methodology used to calculate these and importantly, any energy efficiency measures taken during the financial year being reported.
